Re: Publication Abstract - A Must Read!

It's not a study. It's an article Dr. Beco wrote for our website and it's based on his own experience in treating patients. It's presented in study format, with numbered authors, tables, and a commentary at the end. Looks like a study. Very misleading! There should be a disclaimer for readers sayin...

Re: Publication Abstract - A Must Read!

CPPS, I have done extensive research on PGAD. You can read my conclusions and the conclusions of 2 physicians in a previous newsletter published on our website. http://www.pudendalhope.info/sites/default/files/PGADNewsletterJune2013.pdf You can also read the list of resources at the end of the arti...

Re: Publication Abstract - A Must Read!

Violet, if you are referring to the Maldonado study, it can be seen at http://www.prostatitis-forum.com/?tab=6 Violet, you have (or had) Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder (PGAD) . PGAD is now known as "Restless Genital Syndrome" (ReGS) & is characterized by unwanted, unpleasant genit...

Re: Publication Abstract - A Must Read!

Yes, until we have some proof of entrapment, it's a completely bogus diagnosis. 2) I have never said the nerve is "never" entrapped. That's a straw man argument. A straw man is a common form of argument and is an informal fallacy based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's ar...

Re: Publication Abstract - A Must Read!

In the figure legend they even use the words "appears fixed" which the word "appears" puts a tentativeness to their observation. That's typical of scientific discussion. Words like "appear" and "may" are routinely used because there is always a (usually small...

Re: Publication Abstract - A Must Read!

So I'm sorry CPPS, but I'm not taking your word for it that adhesions of the pudendal nerve are always normal and could never produce symptoms of PN or pelvic pain. We'll agree to disagree on that. I side with the authors of the study (who suggest that PNE is overdiagnosed and attachment is normal)...

Re: Publication Abstract - A Must Read!

Tethering of the nerve is not the key sign of entrapment. Never has been, never will be, Let's go back to what I said earlier in this thread: The problem that needs to be addressed is that the PNE surgeons have not yet acknowledged that adhesions of the pudendal nerve are normal. For instance, here...

Re: Publication Abstract - A Must Read!

Surgical "release" of the nerve has always been touted as the final step in pudendal nerve entrapment diagnosis. See http://www.perineology.com/files/antolak-athens2006.pdf The finding of “tethering” of the nerve, considered up to this point as the key sign of entrapment, has now been show...

Re: Publication Abstract - A Must Read!

Sigh. Violet, now it's a collagen disorder, or a "belief" in a genetic component (no proof required!), or a predisposition "triggered by exercise" (again no proof but hey, sounds plausible, right?). And now nerve attachment —long the key finding to justify a PNE diagnosis, the go...

Re: Publication Abstract - A Must Read!

cpps-admin, you have drawn conclusions that I have not stated. Unless I misunderstand part of our conversation it seems to me that you believe adhesions and connective tissues are the same thing and behave the same way in the body. I'm trying to make the point that even though scar tissue, which ar...
