I don't think so, Volans. I have never heard of stressing the nerve changing the MRI results. Possibly a positional standing or sitting MRI could make a difference in the results but I don't think many places do those.

Not sure if I have PNE or fissure-related pain
Re: Not sure if I have PNE or fissure-related pain
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
Re: Not sure if I have PNE or fissure-related pain
Okay, I got my MRI today. They said the results will be forwarded to my doctor in 5-7 days, but I don't have an appointment with him for another 2 months. Is it normal to call about the results? I really don't want to wait two months to know if they found anything.
Re: Not sure if I have PNE or fissure-related pain
I don't blame you for wanting to know sooner. It sure wouldn't hurt to try to get the report sooner -- no harm done just for asking. Is the appointment in 2 months with your primary care doctor or with a specialist?

Specialist. I can see my primary care doctor much quicker but I don't know if he gets sent the results, or if he'd be able to make any sense of the results.Violet M wrote:Is the appointment in 2 months with your primary care doctor or with a specialist?

I think you can request that the results be sent to your primary care doc. If you read the PN forums and are familiar with the anatomy terms you might be able to sort of understand it yourself.

Re: Not sure if I have PNE or fissure-related pain
Okay, I got a copy of the results. Not sure if I should be happy or sad about this, because the MRI came up with no abnormalities. The report specifically says they did the test to look for pudendal nerve entrapment and came up with no red flags. I could write out the results but it was photocopied poorly and some words are unreadable. Should I bother writing it out?
Re: Not sure if I have PNE or fissure-related pain
It's up to you if you want to type out the report but it sounds like you already have your answer as far as the MRI. Keep in mind MRI's aren't considered completely accurate in determining whether you have a nerve entrapment. So, I guess there might not be any point in feeling happy or sad about the results. Either way you would need to come up with a treatment plan with your doctor for relief of pain and I wish you all the best with that.
