Vulvar swelling

Post by sugarcookie87 »

My nerve was damaged during and internal vaginal ultrasound at an ER, I went in for stomach pain. It hurt so bad, the pain went up my spine it was horrific. I told them what happened, the doctors only offered me pain meds. I could not walk immediately after, my husband dragged me to the car, literally. I thought they dislocated my tailbone. That evening my lower back and bottom were extremely hot, and the pain radiated up my back. I returned to ER in the middle of the night explaining what happened, they did nothing. I went to my doctor and he told me to lay down for a week to let the coccyx heal. I felt better after a week. Then I had an unusual fever or 103 with no other symptoms. Two weeks later, my labia began to swell. I went to Doc and they said it was a yeast infection even though I tested neg. Days later, my clitoris began to to hurt, extremely! Then my whole vulva swelled, I felt like I was pumped up with whipped cream! I became hypersensitive in my entire pelvic region as well as lower back. The doctors said I had BV and gave me antibiotics. Of course it did not work. I explained I believe they damaged a nerve down there because I was constantly tingling in the pelvic region, mostly between the rectum and vagina. I thought I had colon cancer on top of everything. He gave me Neurontin, it helped a little. But before my period each month my entire vulva swells and becomes sensitive more so than normal. I have every single pudendal neuroalgia or entrapment symptoms, but no one seems to have vulvar swelling but me. Is something else happening to me??? I am getting physical therapy and doing acupuncture. So far, I have seen 8 doctors, no one can explain the swelling. What's happening to me?

Did you ever have an MRI to make sure there wasn't something impinging on the nerve roots in your spine or sacral area?

I seen several PN patients post that they have swelling in the vulvar area but it's not a real common symptom with PN. Theoretically it would make sense because the nerves control the constriction of the blood vessels but really for a proper diagnosis, you may want to go to one of the PN specialists.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
