Best in UK for Pudendal Nerve testing?

Post by 5starman »

Hi all

I live on N.Ireland but have been told that to test any dysfuncion with the pudendal nerve that this will require referral to a hospital in England.

I am waiting to speak to my neurologist here but can you please advise who might it be best to be referred to who can carry out PNMLT and possibly an MRN or diagnostic nerve block? Unfortunately I have been told this is too specialist for any doc in N.Ireland

Advice is appreciated. I have looked through the list on the website and recognise a few names such as Greenslade and Baranowski. Are either of these fine or is there alternatives/better given I still require diagnosis.

Thanks alot

I don't know of any docs in N Ireland who treat PN. You might want to check with Maeve Whalen, a PT in Dublin, to see if she knows any good PT's or docs in your area. I think she teachers seminars for other PT's and she may know someone up there who took her seminar. She is listed at the following link: http://www.pudendalhope.info/node/60#UK_and_Ireland
I was diagnosed by a PT when the docs couldn't figure it out so I think a good PT evaluation is always important and hopefully if you can find a good PT, they will be able to point you in the right direction on a physician.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
