Sleep and flare ups

Sometimes I will wake up with a minor flare up (one that goes away within a few hours). I wonder why this is? Is it possible I'm involuntarily clenching my pelvic muscles in my sleep, maybe during nightmares?

I ask because I've read that you're usually supposed to feel the least irritation/pain upon waking.

The same thing used to happen to me. I researched this once and I believe it is because of the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine during certain phases of sleep. http://web.mst.edu/~rhall/neuroscience/ ... pneuro.pdf
Also dreams occur during REM sleep. http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/guide/sleep-101
I could be wrong -- it's just my theory.

Hello Cade
I would get some of me worse flare up at night it would wake me up out of deep sleep and last for many hours. I did figure it out, it was caused by my pajama shorts bunching up on my adductor and that pressure would set the nerve off. I sleep with out anything on the bottom half now and I don't wear underwear, I only wear sweatpants during the day. take care Joe
