Post by Ezzl »

Hi my pn friends,

I'm going through a really rough time at the moment. I resigned from my job last week as it all got too much to hold down a job n be nice to the public face to face when all I wanted to do was to go home n go to bed as I was in so much pain.

I've been also trying to fight an infection off v surgery two weeks ago to fix my stimulator was not given any antibiotics n bingo I get sick. I've been on antibiotics v a week now but still feel like shit n I'm exhausted. I have moved back home to my parents to save money but all I get v my mum is when am I going to get a job she thinks me having pn surgery n the stimulator that I would be fIxed but I'm not it's like I'm an embarassement to her that her daughter isn't working. I even got off my Gyno the other day that working is part of ur treatment! He is not even doing my treatment plan. I'm over it all all I want to do is feel better.
Sorry v my whinge everybody but I know u all know what I'm going through

So sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it. It is difficult when family and friends really can't understand what you are going through. I think that unless someone has had the experience of chronic pain especially when it comes to pudendal pain there is just no way they can understand the limitations no matter how hard they try. Most people find it difficult to understand that you can't sit and that after a while standing causes a whole set of other problems. I have found that I need to be just as compassionate to the people I want to understand my situation, try to cut them a break, look at my situation through their eyes and realize that they really can't understand what it is like to have pain in your private areas and not be able to sit. It helps me not to get angry with the people I know who love and care for me the most like my husband, parents and kids (can't forget the grandpuppy  ). I'm not saying it is easy because it is not but you might find it helpful to lower your expectations of what you what/need from your family. It is wonderful that you can live with your parents to help decrease expenses and let them know how much your appreciate this, that your goal is to get well and go back to work but that it is going to take time. If your mom doesn't go with you to dr. appointments you might want to see if she would be interested in going that way she can hear from a 3rd party what is going on and might help her come to terms with what is going on with you. Your mom is probably struggling with what is going on with you, may not know how to express all her feelings and it is coming out pressing you regarding work.

At this point you might find it helpful to find a counselor that specializes in working with individuals with chronic pain. To have an outside party to talk with might be quite helpful.

Hugs and prayers sent your way. There are better days ahead for you!

Dear Erin,

I'm so sorry for what you are going through and that you are having a really low time right now. Has your mom ever taken the time to educate herself about PN -- like reading any of this site or maybe the Taking the Shame out of Pudendal Neuralgia article? Maybe if she was willing to read a bit about it she might understand better. If not, keep your head high and do what you have to do to get well. We're here for you and you can vent to us as much as you want and we'll understand.

Hugs,

Violet ;)
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Erin,

I like what nyt said about lowering your expectations. Use this forum to get support and understanding. We are all very brave women (and men) who should be proud of ourselves for waking up every day in the face of such adversity. I'm proud of you!
