Botox didn't work
it has been 3 weeks since I had the botox down there. I feel no improvement. How could this be?

Re: Botox didn't work
I'm sorry to hear the botox didn't help you. Can you give some details about your treatment? How many units of botox, where specifically was it injected, who was the doctor? Maybe the doctor didn't use enough, didn't inject the right areas for you, wasn't experienced?
I saw a urogynecologist to see about botox injections. He would not do it on me because my pain was too severe and too wide-spread, meaning the entire vulva, both inner and outer labia, perineum and sometimes anus. I guess it works better for very localised pain in one or two little spots. He was afraid that he might make things worse. He admitted he wasn't very experienced with it and wouldn't even know where to begin to place the injections for someone with problems as severe as mine.
I have had botox injections for migraines (and wrinkles
), and it works immediately, and lasts for about 4 months. I am guessing that if it works for genital pain, it would work fairly quickly, too. Certainly within 3 weeks.
Go back to the doctor and ask why it didn't work. One study I read, a few of the patients needed a second treatment, and then they had good results. I hope you can get some relief. It's so disappointing when these things don't work....

The dr a total of 80 units in 4 sites. Divided up into 20 units in these foour sites. they were injected at 12 oclock, 3 oclock, 6 oclock and 9 oclock. since I saw no improvement, she did not want to give a second treatment. She just said that the botox will not help me and reffered me back to my family physician.
