Physical therapist needed in UK!

Post by arkledessie »

Hi all
I am new to this site - I am pretty sure I have some sort of pudendal nerve problems but have been advised to see a suitably knowledgeable physio first to try to get a diagnosis. I am used to the "medical merry-go-round" and want to try to avoid it this time around if possible!
I have emailed most of the physios from a suggested website but they are all hundreds of miles away from me (I am on the Suffolk/Essex/Norfolk borders) and as apparently I would need to go for a 12 week "course" I was hoping someone out there might know of a good PT who is a bit nearer. I don't mind a long drive but I would hope to find one a bit nearer to me as I also suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome.
I would have thought Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge might have someone suitable but it doesn't seem so from their website.
I got referred to a local physio ages ago from my GP and have become worse as she prescribed Kegel exercises (a real no-no I have since discovered!).
Fingers crossed for news. Thanks. x

Maeve Whelan might be able to direct you to someone - she had a list of PT's who treat pelvic pain. She is listed in UK/Ireland list of PT's. http://www.pudendalhope.info/node/60#UK_and_Ireland

Take care,

Violet
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
