PN Injection needed in the New York area

Post by GregT »

Hey, I've got someone emailing me about her condition. She's had PN symptoms that have come for good periods of time and then gone for long periods of time. This is the third time she's gotten them now. I've emailed Dr. Sheldon Jordan with her history (as written from her) and he's recommending a PN injection. However, she's got no money or insurance so I'm trying to find her someone who can give an accurate guided PN injection nearer to where she lives, which I believe is in or near New York city.

Thank you for your help.

Greg
Had surgery in Nantes, France in 2001 with Professor Robert. I advocate physical therapy with PTs who specialize in the pelvic floor. I also advocate injections to help diagnose PN and I am in favor of having PN surgery to release the nerve when the diagnoses points to an entrapped nerve.

Dr. Alan Leff does Botox into the OI muscle but I don't know about PN blocks. She could check with him.

She could also call Amy Stein's office and see if they know anyone. 212.354.2622
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

I live in New York and am not aware of anyone who does CT guided blocks -- I ended up going to Dr Jordon in LA. Dr Harris does unguided blocks.

I do not believe Dr. Leff does pudendal blocks. He does alot with botox injections to other muscles of the pelvis. He does not believe in surgery. I saw him about 4 years ago. The closest doctors for pudendal blocks to NYC would be Dr. Howard in Rochester NY or Dr. Conway in NH. Look on the dr. page for their contact information.

Dr. Howard would probably be best. Dr. Conway doesn't perform blocks. He refers patients to Dr. Quesada in Manchester, NH for them.
Best of luck to your friend, Greg!
Kind regards,
Karyn

Dr. Howard doesn't do the blocks either he refers you to Dr. Westesson who does them CT guided. Last I knew Dr. Quesada was doing them under fluoroscopy. If she doesn't have PN then either of these dr.'s would be able to figure that out. Dr. Conway will do the PNMLT but Dr. Howard does not do that testing due to the concerns over the accuracy. She would be in goods hands with either dr.

Oh! Thanks for the clarification, NYT! Yes, you're correct about Dr. Q doing them under flouroscopy.
Dr. Conway doesn't do PNMLT's. He works with an Associate, Dr. Winefield who does (needle!) EMG testing.

I had a CT guided PN block in NYC (Manhattan) at Dr. Kenneth Chapman's office. I found it through Dr. Coady's office. His contact info is below:

Dr. Kenneth Chapman
Manhattan Office
860 5th Avenue
New York, NY 10065
212-724-7246

Good luck!
Started with vulva itching 2/11. Diagnosed as vulvodynia and then PN in 01/12. Progressed to sitting pain and constant burning. Received 4 nerve blocks with only temporary relief, did year of pelvic PT before being diagnosed with bilateral FAI and hip labral tears 7/12. Did orthopedic PT 1.5 years. 3/13 Arthroscopic hip surgery at HSS with Dr. Kelly. Take cymbalta and lyrica daily. About 97% better than worst point thanks to combo of surgery and meds. Yay!
