New here - think I have PN ? Or is it a disc bulge?

Welcome to HOPE. We have tried to provide a place for newcomers to make their introductions. We will try our best to make you welcome and guide you through our website and Forum and assist you as best as we can through any questions you have regarding Pudendal Neuralgia.

Helen;

The rope feeling is exactly the left prudential never itself. My was so tight, it was knot after knot. Started out severely inflamed and severely sensitive with the right side nerve being moderate. Pelvic Floor PT has removed those knots and interestingly enough, the right side inside the rectum is much more painful then the left so there is a ton of overcompensating taking place in all this.

I have not tried the belt but can look into it. I am working like a madman (relatively speaking) on core strength as that is what seems to be the way to get this in a steady state and keep it there.

I just want it to go away and being a good observer I have no problem in detailing things down to a nats behind as no one should ever have to go through this type of situation. It is almost like some kind of medieval torture, but I am determined to beat it.

The rope I always thought was a mini-muscle but then again 50% of the nerves down there are connective tissue so they'd probably have the same tension feel =/. There are muscles that run behind (or above rather) the scrotum and to the sides. My physio jams into them. Once she does that urinary flow is a lot less...resistive. She said those muscles control ejaculation and urination and that's exactly what got better. I also noticed so nerve malfunction in that the ejaculatory - urinary refractory period is longer.
Yeah so I'm not alone in that panic penis mode, and sometimes I can feel when it jams right in, it's very awkward. If I stand too long I'll get it, but if I lie down or sit on a toilet I get more relaxation and full size comes back. It also feels like something is pulling to raise the testicles...now I'm pretty convinced it's a muscular issue. Oh yeah, any weight I put on my back will cause a light hypersensitivity feeling. So I guess for me it's a matter of continuing the myofascial break work along with re-training core. I always wanted an inversion table but I haven't any room in my small condo =/. What belt is this?

Hmm I have no idea about the hip tears. But perhaps the surgeries might have caused weakness in the areas causing other muscles to overcompensate and irritate the nerves. Also, I think the myofascial release has to be done routinely by yourself. My physio will soon train me how to do it myself for the internal work, I have been doing the external for awhile now and feeling loads better. It does take time though, nerves are very slow to heal. Heh, that's why some surgeons say it'll take up to 5 years to get better after their surgery =/. Or it'd take months to relieve sciatica after a discectomy. Vitamin B my friend lol...

Jason,
The SI belt is for your sacriilliac (SI) joints which are at your lower back. I bought one that your put around that lower back and velcros. I wear it mostly driving and cooking which are two of my mor twisting times and holds me from twisting my pelvis out of whack. Until you build up the core to hold you in place. Sorry I am on mynook and cannot sent a link to what I bought but someone may be able to do that. Good luck
Janet
2007-08 pelvic muscles spasms treated by EGS. 6/27/10 sat too long on hard chair- spasms, EGS not work Botox help, cortisone shots in coccyx help, still pain, PT found PNE & sent me to Dr Marvel nerve blocks & MRN, TG left surgery 5/9/11. I have chronic bunion pain surgery at age 21. TG gave me back enough sitting to keep my job & join in some social activities. I wish the best to everyone! 2019 luck with orthotics from pedorthist & great PT allowing me to get off oxycodone.

This is one type of SI belt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vULEJCwvFnY
Not that I am promoting this one at all, just posted the link as is came up first ;) but it is interesting, and maybe something you could look at and get the leg lifting demonstrated in the video checked out?
The only type of belt I have seen is an ordinary type of support strap placed in much the same area as the physio did on the video.
Here is another http://www.serola.net/ ,again no recommendation as I have never tried any of them. (my piriformis muscles are too sore to wear).
As mentioned I too have the tight rope feeling, but I also have tight muscles too, piriformis . I doubt if this will help anyone to differentiate but the piriformis tightness is always painful and although it feels like a taut band, but a taut band of pain and starts in one particular spot first (the site of the initial injury) I would say, that at least for me, the muscle never feels rope like. I put this down to any muscle can have a tight trigger point within that muscle which is more usual, even a few trigger points within the muscle (that are described as lentil like) Unless it is totally in spasm?? it is less likely to be rope like? However a nerve that is compromised at some point (by that tight muscle) can feel rope like. I know my sciatic does anyway and in the morning it will feel rope like without pain and can be noticed as I stand, walk and more if bending, but it will become painful as the day goes on along the rope path (and further)
At the moment if I sit up straight I am sitting on a string of pain, which I know is my pudendal nerve, so I always associate that particular and very specific 'path/length/rope' of pain, as part of the compromised nerve pathway.
Fall 2008. Misdiagnosed with lumber spine problem. MRN June 2010 indicated pudendal entrapment at Alcocks canal. Diagnosed with complex variant piriformis syndrome with sciatic, pudendal and gluteal entrapment's by Dr Filler 2010.Guided piriformis botox injection 2011 Bristol. 2013, Nerve conduction test positive; new spinal MRI scan negative, so diagnosed for the 4th time with pelvic nerve entrapment, now recognised as Sciatic, pudendal, PFCN and cluneal nerves at piriformis level.
