Hi,
I'm a 34 year old female. I, unfortunately, developed PN after the birth of my fourth child. I have seen Liz Rummer and Dr. Weiss out in San Fran. I have also seen Dr. Dellon. I am pretty confident in the diagnosis...neuromas in the perineal branch from the birth laceration and entrapment of the clitoral branch from pressure of baby's head. I had a lot of trauma to my left labia area during birth. My symptoms are very localized and I've never had any other health or pelvic issues. Dellon is suggesting surgery at the pubic ramus to perform neurolysis of the clitoral nerve and to cut/implant the perineal branch into the obturator internus. Has anyone had this surgery or had experience with Dr. Dellon??? I'm very interested in success rates.
Thanks!
Caroline

Re: NEW TO PN...ANYONE SEEN DR DELLON??
Hello and welcome! If you look toward your upper right, you will see a "search" box. Type in "Dellon" and you will find every reference made to him on this forum. I have been on here a long time and I do not recall seeing much if any positive, but there might have been positive outcomes which I missed so it is best if you read everything posted about him. Of the two doctors you have seen, Dr. Weiss is involved more in conservative treatments, so Dr. Dellon was the only surgeon. There are a few other reputable surgeons. In the USA, offhand I would say Dr. Hibner and Dr. Conway are reputable surgeons. I don't mean to be exclusive because there might be other surgeons just as good in the USA, as well as overseas. But personally I have heard the most positives about those two. Also they take insurance, and last I heard Dr. Dellon did not.
pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.

Re: NEW TO PN...ANYONE SEEN DR DELLON??
I saw Dr. Dellon but he did NOT do any surgery on me. Very costly since he doesn't take insurance.
As HerMajesty he has not gotten very positive reviews on this forum. Many individuals who have seen him have opted to go to Europe to Dr. Aszmann since he developed the dorsal nerve surgery with Dr. Dellon. Several individuals found it cheaper to travel to Europe and have the surgery done there than to have Dr. Dellon do the surgery. Dr. Hibner has done a few dorsal nerve releases, at least that is what I have heard from the grapevine, but have not been told by him personally. I do not know if Dr. Conway is doing the dorsal nerve approach.
Keep us posted and ask lots of questions.
