Anal Fissures and Pudendal Neuralgia

Post by cavalka »

Is anyone aware of anybody who had pudendal neuralgia and anal fissures in combination? I have had multiple tests (CT Scan, MRI, Anal Mammoetry, HIV testing, etc.) and none of the test pinpointed a diagnosis. The anal mammoetry testing showed I had a high anal sphincter resting pressure (130) compared to normal individual (75). Wondering if pudendal neuralgia can cause anal fissures? I had multiple fissures that where treated with botox shot to internal sphincter muscle. Fissures healed, but my pain remained. Fissures appeared again after 6 months and had lateral anal sphincterotomy to heal fissures. Fissures are now healed, but my pain remains. I am uncertain if this is due to pudendal neuralgia or if I am dealing with something total different; however many of my anal pain symptoms correlate with PN symptoms.

Thanks.

The pudendal nerve innervates the anal sphincter. I don't know if the fissures are related but I know you are not the first person to ever post on fissues related to possible pudendal neuralgia. I think the gal who posted was using nitroglycerin ointment.

If the pain from the fissures caused your pelvic floor muscles to tense up it's possible the tense muscles impinged on the pudendal nerve and irritated it causing symptoms of PN. Have you tried any PT to release the pelvic floor muscles?

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

I have tried PT. Actually I tried 3 different PT in the Peoria area without any significant help. If you know of a good PT in the Peoria, IL area please let me know. It is hard to find a good PT that has actually worked on someone with PN.

Looks like the closest one on our list is from Moline. You could give her a call and see if she knows someone good in Peoria.

Best,
