Question: Does it sound like PN?? Admins, what do u think?

Post by LindseyD »

Hi, Ive shared my pelvic issues on here, but now I have a new question since my dr. officially thinks I have PN. My symptoms started in the badder, (Interstitial cystitis) and 1 month later I had tingling in left labia. Since then, symptoms continually progressed to both sides tingling on labias off and on, thigh, calves, hip, butt, ankle pain, pgad, and muscle twitches. But I never have pain dirrectly on the pudendal nerve,or so I thought. Genitles do always feel stimulated.
Anyway,I finaly saw a obgyn speciaist, and when he sticks his fingers in me, And presses on the PN it really does hurt a lot. But when he doesnt press, the PN does not hurt. So Im confused if its really PN or not. Can it be PN and be effecting the other areas more? So confused....Its all bc of my bladder,I know it. There is also the therory of leaky gut issue, but idk.Now that I know exactly where the PN is,I understand why its impossible for someone with it to SIT. I havent been abke to sit comfortably bc of the tinglyness in labias and thighs, which is why I thought PN,but now that I know.where it is,i deff.have sharp pain there when he presses, but not any other time. Does this make sense?

Yes, it makes sense, Lindsey, but don't take my word for it. Check out the symptoms described on page 2 of Dr. Hibner's article. http://www.pudendalhope.info/sites/defa ... Hibner.pdf
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Thanks for the article,Violate. Btw, my body us having more and more muscle twitching. I know
pn will cause it in pelvic region, but I also have it on my upper body too which I know isnt a part of pn,but iis a form of neuropothy. Do u know what nerves cause misforing through the upper body?

Hey Lindsay,

When I first got my pelvic pain I had weird symptoms all over my body as well. I had upper body symptoms as well. I'd say give it a couple months to ease down. If it doesn't then suspect something else.

Bc the damage is probably due to a peripheral nerve you may have some strange symptoms throughout your body And not just in your pelvis. Remember, your whole body is connected. It's weird I know.

Just a thought.
Pudendal pain started in Feb 2014. Potter MRI- useless findings (dont waste your money), tried pelvic floor pt, ART, Trigenics, Osteopathic treatment, fascial work, Massage, Shockwave, world renown chiros, osteopaths and PTs, stretching bla bla. Nothing helped but shockwave (which was short lived) and one world renown chiro that is a douchebag because he cant treat me again. All in all, God is the only one who can lead your path.

Oh yeah, its all conneceted all right. Mystery for me is ai just hd an issue with my bladder which caused all this. Leaky gut is theory but who knows. I didnt have an onset fall or anything to cause it.

Well, guess what, today the actual PN hurts and nobodg is pressing on it. Doing it all on its own. I had a teribly bad bladder and then a month later nerve tingle in labia, and well,Ive explained the rrst thats progressed so. Until today the Pudendal nerve itself nvr actually hurt, accept for the times my recent dr.pressed on it.

Lindsey, I had a progression of symptoms too. It's not unusual but you do want to try to keep your pain levels low in order to avoid central sensitization with permanent changes to the spinal cord and brain. It's more difficult to reverse that.

Lindsey you can find a lot about it if you google it but here is one article that is good. http://www.medscape.org/viewarticle/481798

Gabapentin didn't help me either. Never tried hydradoxyzine but it's not exactly a pain-killer. Finding what works for you can be a matter of trial and error. You can find more info on the medications page of the website: http://www.pudendalhope.info/node/20

For pain and PGAD, I have a friend who is being treated very successfully with buprenorphine which is a narcotic that you are not as likely to develop a tolerance to as with most narcotics.

I googled it after I responded. Im already having hypersensotovity to touch but i thoight it was just a symptom of PN. :-\ Does that mean its already having that awful cycle of pain im my brain involving the spinal.cord that is harder to treat??
