Hello everyone,

First I'd like to thank the moderator's for not only building this site, but also for maintaining it so all of us have a place to come together.

I have been lurking around since October when I stumbled into Pudendal Hope. It was a day of mixed emotions. At last I knew what was wrong with me and it had a name. But the disorder is not widely known or accepted, so this will limit doctors to turn to, especially on the east coast in Virginia. My foggy and pain ridden mind and weak and painful body just can't imagine traveling too far for testing or treatment. Then there are so many differant paths to consider, and each one you try will take more time, and after 7.5 years, I am just at the point that the pain had drained me. The trips to doctor after doctor has drained me and the financial impact has drained me. I wish I could have found you all a couple of years ago, when I still had energy and money to fight.

Once I found you guys, I have done allot of reading of the site and just yesterday scrolled thru the forum a little.

I also went and had a couple of nerve blocks. As I suspected by information I foukd here, I didn't expect them to help. I was just using them to see if it was PN or PNE. The first block hit all the areas of the horrible burning areas with numbing for the rest of the day and night. So did the second one. I'd say, that gave me my answer, (that I already knew, but just didn't want to accept) it's PN or PNE.

Surgery is something to consider, but is way down the road for me. My next direction is "Pulsed Radio Frequency". I will have an appt in Jan 2011 to dicuss this option with a new pain management doctor I am using. I just hope she does the procedure or knows of someone who does.

In the meantime, I will be lurking around, maybe asking a few questions and looking forward to any replies or inquires from you all, as we get to know each other.

Have patience with me, this is the first formum I have been in and will need to get my feet wet as I go along.

Here's hoping to better days for one and all,
Robyn

Hi Robyn,

Welcome to the forum. I remember when I first came to a PNE forum and sensed almost immediately that's what I had and I completely understand your mixed emotions about the diagnosis -- happy that you know what the problem might be but wishing there were better options.

Best wishes as you take your PN journey -- I hope you will find some answers here.

Violet
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
