That was what I found, they like to titrate the medication up. It works for a while and then you switch to pregablin. There is a direct conversion they can do in terms of dosing between the two.

I think it's variable, for some of these drugs like gabapentin and pregalbin I knew straight away whether they were working. Same with amitriptyline, theoretically though it should take a while but that wasn't what I found. Dulexetine (we should try and avoid makers name), I didn't found to be very effective at all. Sadly I don't think any of these really work and even opioids don't really work for chronic pain. The pain specialists take the attitute of titrating doses and avoiding opioids at all costs for chronic pain but for long term use, this is tyoically what happens. Which is why wherever possible, I think surgery is worth the gamble personally (hopefully it will work for me and I won't be proved wrong here).
