Violet M wrote:Lindsey, I was out of alignment too and had worse symptoms on one side. I don't know what kind of exercises the PT is having you do. What happened to me was that originally I just had minor pain without PGAD. My PT had me do stretching exercises and since the nerve was impinged on by ligaments, the stretching exercises irritated the nerve and I developed PGAD and eventually severe pain. If your PT is having you do exercises I wonder if that could be causing nerve irritation. Definitely something to ask your PT.

Thats a possibility for sure... but how do I ask that? Because if I ask, of course she will say, no it wouldnt cause that. My first excercises were laying flat on my back and doing these leg stretches, one leg at a time only 10 times each. In the same week I also used this stretchy thing to put around my knees, hold them.at shoulder width, and do lifes with my thighs and butt. The next week my excercises to do at home were to sit on a chair and with each leg do these stretches with my foot pointed upwards.... Another excercise is i cross one leg over the other, and sort of pull it with a small towel.... but I havent done them every day like Im supposed to. and Im not doing ALL these excercises each week. Each week is a new excercise. Accept this week I did my first internal appointment and I am supposed to just do the excercises I learned the previous week.
No matter what caused it... its here now. So now what. I know it a try this ans try that deal. Just terrified of it gettinf worse.

What do your instincts tell you Lindsey? Do you feel like this is a mechanical issue where the nerve is being irritated from activity? If so, the stretches and exercises could just make you worse. At least that"s what happened to me. I had to quit doing them. If your PT won't listen you might have to rethink your PT.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

She was very concerned, but Im gonna talk to her again about it this week. I think the symptom was slowly coming on before this,it just happened steadily since pt. For insteance, 3 times in the last few months at ramdom timed,my vagina felt this urge suddenly like omygosh I gotta have sex this instant. Thats just not normal for me. To get me in the mood,sory-tmi i know, but I have to be kissed or touched by my husband,or watch a love seen in a movie. (not porn). Ive never just felt the urge out of thr blue. Ive never even had a huge sex drive. This symptom is the one that can ruin my life. I cry and hang on to my husband tighlty at bed time crying i dont wanna let you go I dont wanna let you go,I shouldnt have to this isnt right... But i know with no help i cannot possibly live with this symptom all my life. Life was hard enough with my bladder and numbing throught my bottom half of body. I was already suffering. but i could at least enjoy a movie somewhat and have nornal conversations with people without the sex feeling. I feel ill have to give it all up....
Im not like many others who fell one day, bicycled,or weight lifted and then had health problems.... mine started with one physical condition-my bladder... and it snow balled. I see myself not surviving this and i dont want to feel that way. If my problems all started by a fall or something like that, surgery one day would be something Id consider if it came to it. but mine jusr isnt that simple. Whatever i have its causing multiple things and this is my far the worst. people try meds, but does it take it away or just make symptoms less?? this seems so hopeless.

Lindsey, I understand because I was hopeless at one point. I think with some more diagnostics, etc. you should be able to narrow this down better as to what is the cause and then have a better idea of what treatment to pursue. Has your PT done an internal pelvic exam and if so is there any tenderness along the course of the pudendal nerve at the ischial spine or the alcock's canal? Are the pelvic floor muscles tight?
I don't know what all you have had done as far as diagnostics but likely there are more things you could do to try to narrow this down. I always tell people it doesn't make sense to give up when there are more things you can do. Can't remember....have you had an MRI yet to rule out anything obvious?

People respond to meds differently and there's really not way to tell whether they will work unless you try them. Meds calmed my symptoms some but didn't take them completely away. It was enough to make my mind clear enough that I could be proactive about my diagnosis and treatments.
