New and needing info on pain flares after nerve block

Hi
Was diagnosed with PN in October this year. Have just had my second nerve block.
Pain has seriously increased since, to the point where I can't walk, weight bearing causes pain in vulva.
Has anyone ever had trouble walking before ? Also wondering if anyone has had a pain flare lasting more than 2 weeks?
I've read they are normally 1-2 weeks so am surprised my pain is still increasing 2 1/2 weeks later.

Hi Hetty,
Sorry to hear you are having flare-up. Yes, I had trouble walking before surgery. And the flare-ups after nerve blocks lasted about a month. So hang in there and see if your doc will prescribe some extra medication while you are going through this difficult time. Use lots of ice too.

Yes walking is difficult for me too. I do put mine down to piriformis problems, almost exclusively, as I know the more I do (not a great deal )the more spasmed my p muscles become which has a knock on effect with hip and groin pain. Weight bearing does have an effect too. I am usually found leaning on things rather than standing

Now I don't feel quite so daft for insisting walking makes things worse !

I hope the flare settle down soon, what is your next step? Oh forgot to ask was your nerve block guided?

Hi Hetty,
Sorry about your pain flair, I hope it subsides soon. When I had a block, my muscles went into spasm.
A muscle relaxant such a Flexeril seem to help me quite a bit.

Hi Helen
Yes it was ultrasound guided. Am pleased to say its calmed down and today I was upright for 20 mins which meant a nice relaxed shower rather than a mad dash ! If I lye down for maybe 2 hours it buys me a few minutes for walking. I think of it like a banking system, time lying down is an investment for future activity !

Good to hear Hetty, I like that terminology , 'a banking system' and can relate totally.
I would like to say that I am lying around boudoiresque having grapes fed to me so that I can go shopping, retail therapy of course rather than boring food, but I can dream, cant I?
