If you have used the B & O Suppositories for PN (and) IC pain, have you ever had this reaction? Two weeks ago, I used them at one time per day for 5 days with wonderful pain relief (plus used them 5 years ago after the PNER surgery). Then, I went to 2X per day and after 2 days, experienced abdominal bloating, diarhhrea, stomach pain upon walking and loss of appetite. Dr. Hibner said he had never heard of such a reaction to the B & O suppositories. I tapered down to 1X per day and still have these side effects but not quite as bad.
Has anyone had such a reaction? It is the only new drug I have tried in the last few months. Hibner wants me to have a "redo" so am trying to find a solution to avoid it. Thanks.
Belladonna & Opium Suppositories
Re: Belladonna & Opium Suppositories
Mesquite, typically narcotics cause constipation, not diarrhea. http://www.rxlist.com/belladonna-and-op ... ctions.htm
That said, it is possible to be constipated with bloating and abdominal pain but to have leakage of watery stool around solids that are backed up in the intestines. I don't know exactly what your diarrhea is like -- if you are having large frequent watery stools then it seems unlikely that you would be backed up/constipated but if you are having small watery stools intermittently with hard stools then you might be constipated. So, I'm not sure what's going on with you. I've not heard of opioids causing diarrhea.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
Re: Belladonna & Opium Suppositories
The belladonna did cause colon distress. Dr. Hibner's associate wrote a Rx for Opium suppositories and they work very well with no side effects.
