Hello everybody,
I am a 29y/o male based in London, UK. I first came across this website in my research this past week as a result of developing numbness in my perineum, anal region and groin about 6 days ago.
I was hospitalised on Monday by NHS for observation for possible cauda equina syndrome, but the MRI scans came back fine and I've been discharged with instructions to monitor this undiagnosed condition.
My symptoms are numbness in those regions, and a decrease in sensation when passing motion in the toilet. I haven't experienced any pain, but have had slight hypersensitivity in my thighs the past two days.
I am at a loss of what to do here and was wondering if PN(E) might be the cause of my symptoms here.. Any of you guys had similar symptoms as me? Basically numbness but no pain.
Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thank you
Howie

Re: New here and need some help!
Hi Howie,
Numbness hasn't been a big issue for me although I have experienced a little bit of it. I have heard others, especially bikers, who posted that numbness was a major problem. Is there any incident or past history that might explain it -- such as bike riding or prolonged sitting?
You might want to get in to see Dr. Baranowski in London. Also I think there are some good PT's and you could have an evaluation with one of them to see if you have any pelvic floor tension with muscles impinging on the nerve. Hopefully our UK members can tell you which PT's to see.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Hi.....from the UK I have seen Dr Baronowski for a diagnosise £400.00 an hour privately he is very thorough. He can be seen or one of his team on the NHS 6-9 months wait. Maria Eliot private physio Harley a Street London £120.00 an hour, also Helen Keeble White Hart clinic Chelsea she has a very good reputation about £70.00 an hour. Good Luck.
Re: New here and need some help!
Thanks for the recommendations guys. I've managed to book a consultation with Helen Keeble at White Hart Clinic for PT. i am hoping that it is a pelvic muscle issue that can be resolved with non invasive therapy.
The symptoms have now been ongoing for a week, numbness in lower extremities and difficulty passing motion today. Very distressing, have had to cancel two trips in December and early January as a result, lots of money wasted. This is also affecting things with my wife as I'm finding it hard to stay positive amidst all of this.
Will try calling Dr Baronowski's clinic early Monday to try to book an appointment as well.
