Colon cancer is when it's in the large bowel, the colon, the lower part. Intestinal cancer is when it's in the small intestine, the higher part. Intestinal cancer is more rare. They really divide up gastrointestinal cancers by what region or structure they happen in. The risk factors and outcomes are different depending on location, because the tissue types are different.
