Hello,
I am entirely hoping I don't have this but my research and the symptoms I have always keep mentioning it so here goes.
A week ago I developed a strong pain in the tip of my penis that grew in intensity if I tensed, this happened after having to strain for a bowel movement as I am heavily constipated. I'm only able to empty my bowels with manual evacuation.
Since, the pain had then manifested into a continuous burning, stinging sensation that appears to get worse after sitting down for a period of time. This has subsided in parts but I will still occasionally get it, along with the aforementioned strong stab.
Aside from this I have also developed a numbness in my penis. I can no longer feel any sensations in the glans and down the left side to the inner thigh, the perineum or my anus. This is accompanied with a dull pain on my left lower buttock. I occasionally get a strong cramping in the anus. I am still able to achieve erections but these feel softer and I can no longer feel any stimuli or ejaculation.
I have to strain heavily to pass gas and it takes me a long time to urinate with the burning intensifying. Once I begin the flow starts then stops but I can usually get it going again however it is much less and the stream is not as strong as it used to be.
I'm not able to relax what I believe is the pelvic floor muscles, they feel as if they are continually in a state of spasm with very little give. I am able to tighten them but not relax.
I have visited my GP twice, with them referring me to A&E where a MRI was conducted but they have informed me that it is not serious and likely not neurological, however I still continue to have these sensations and difficulties. They did discover I had a water infection however I've had one of these in the past and never had this degree of numbness or stinging sensations.
The numbness is a continual thing now.
My question really is does anyone here believe this could be PN/PNE? Or is it simply a matter of actually being a water infection that has numbed practically my entire groin region? I am at the point where I'm contacting physios for support.
Many thanks.
Suspected PN/PNE?
Re: Suspected PN/PNE?
Welcome Agentaeon,
so sorry to hear about your struggle. Hopefully you are in a beginning stage and can turn this around. My first idea was to have you go to a PN-aware physio- see the homepage for someone in your area. Also need to get the constipation under control since that is probably adding to the problem. There is a very long thread about this but I don't know how to provide you a ink. I will try to find the section and edit this to add it in. See pain management and medications under Diagnosis and Treatment the thread is called pain meds and constipation. Best of luck.

It sounds like there may be some PN/PNE, but it is best to have am expert investigate this. You can point your doctors in the direction of PN/PNE to get the ball rolling. This was something I had to do also & it was good to catch it early for the hope of a good recovery. As mentioned, definitely try & get the constipation under some control as this will most like aggravate the condition. Speak to your doctors about how to combat this. I wish you luck with your journey sir...

I was thinking the same thing as Andy and Janet about being evaluated by a PT for pelvic floor tightness/tension. For ideas on how to avoid constipation you can check out this page on our website: http://www.pudendalhope.info/node/32

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
