New Memeber ~ PLEASE HELP ME!!!
New Memeber ~ PLEASE HELP ME!!!
I have had pelvic pain for two years. I live in North Carolina and have seen every kind of doctor with no results. I have been to Chapel Hill and they told me that I have a torn tendon in my abdomin. I know that I have PNE!!! I have pelvic pain, groin pain, hurts when I sit, go to the bathroom, have shooting pain in vaginal area, leg pain ( left leg only). I have had PT; however, it made the pain worse. Are there any doctors in NC to help me??? ANY, ANY help would be appreciated very much!!!! THANKS
Re: New Memeber ~ PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Btw.... History: hysterectomy, car accident, six laparoscopic surgeries
Re: New Memeber ~ PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Your symptoms do correlate with PN, and there are women who have had hysterectomies that develop it. Can you find a urogynecologist? That seems to be a good specialty to see. They should know about PN. There are 2 PT"s listed on Raleigh and Concord on the home page of this site. Are you anywhere near them? Welcome to our group; you will get lots of cyber-hugs and advice on this site:)

Thanks so much!!!! I have NOT been to urologist, I will talk to my doc about that. I appreciate your input very much, have a great day!!!!!!!
Re: New Memeber ~ PLEASE HELP ME!!!
My other advice is to print out information about PN from this website, tick off the symptoms that apply, and take it to your dr. This condition is so rare and many MD's don't even know about it. I'm glad you found us!

Thanks so much for your advice !!! I have explained it to several doctors, three of them told me that if I had this, I would not be having pain in my legs!!!! I'm going to keep on trying..... I will NOT give up!

Rena, many of us on the forum have leg pain. My left leg flares up whenever the pudendal nerve pain is very bad. I think you are on the right track. Good luck in finding a good PN-aware doctor, and please keep us informed.Rena2020 wrote: I have explained it to several doctors, three of them told me that if I had this, I would not be having pain in my legs!!!!
Athlete until pain started in 2001. Diagnosed with PN in Nov. 2010. Probable cause: 3 difficult labors, 5 pelvic surgeries for endometriosis, and undiagnosed hip injuries. 60% better after 3 rounds of shockwave therapy in Cornwall, Ontario (Dec - Feb/12). 99% better after bilateral hip scopes for FAI and labral tears (April and July/12). Pelvic pain life coach Lorraine Faendrich helped me overcome the mind/body connection to chronic pain: http://www.radiantlifedesign.com

Thanks for everyone's response ~ it truly gives me hope!!!!
Re: New Memeber ~ PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Rena, count me in on the leg pain -- definitely had leg pain before PNE surgery. When the pudendal nerve is irritated the muscles surrounding it go into spasm and some of the other nearby muscles such as the piriformis also go into spasm and put pressure on the sciatic nerve that goes to the leg. A physical therapist who specializes in pudendal neuralgia is a great place to start in figuring out your diagnosis.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
