Re: newbie. as yet undiagnosed

Ileana, I was wondering if there could have been anything that might have precipitated these problems for you such as an accident or heavy exercise. The reason I'm asking is that many of us have pelvic alignment/stability issues with sacroiliac joint dysfunction accompanying pudendal neuralgia. Frequently low back pain is a problem and if your pelvis is misaligned there could be some pressure on the sciatic nerve causing leg/foot numbness. I have had all of the above symptoms as well as PGAD which was one of my early symptoms. The word "cure" is a bit elusive around here but there are some people, who have claimed to be cured. I am not completely cured of all symptoms but thankfully I am essentially cured of PGAD and live a fairly normal life with a job that requires quite a bit of sitting.

In my mind, your symptoms certainly warrant a visit to a PN expert but I think you would also be very wise to see a physiotherapist who specializes in pelvic mechanics and pudendal neuralgia.

When it comes to relationships, boyfriend's, etc., I think honesty is always the safest route. Because if he finds out later rather than sooner it could hurt your relationship even worse. But that's just my 2 cents. ;)

Best,

Violet
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Hullo Violet,

Lovely to hear from you. Your story gives me a lot of hope. If I could be essentially rid of PGAD and able to sit for fairly long periods I would be so so so so happy. I hope I may make such a recovery.

I used to do a lot of running though hadn't been in the two or three months leading up to the first symptoms. When running I had a lot of trouble with my ITBs and my right knee. I was told by the physio my right hip was slightly rotated and he did some realignment manipulations to fix me. He also said my muscles and tendons had a tendency to be very tight. I also wondered if some that hip realigning might have played a part in my symptoms. But it is more my left side that is affected...

I have just got my appointment with Dr Greenslade for October 4th :) I'll let you know his assessment.
And I will ask him too about seeing a PT. I think that is very very good advice :)
I think I'll wait till I've seen him before deciding what to tell my boyfriend. Better to have a diagnosis and prognosis first. And then honesty...

Now I will return to prepping Monday's job interview.

Ileana, I've heard Dr. Greenslade is a very nice guy and I hope he will be able to help you. It makes sense to wait to tell your boyfriend until you have a likely diagnosis. October will be here soon. ;)
