Advice Please

Post by Florida910 »

I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice into if I have a pudendal nerve problem. My pain is mostly around my anus, specifically to the right and left. If I push up against this bone it is very tender to the touch. I don't have any penis pain. The pain builds up slowly when I sit and then slowly goes away when I start standing or laying down.

Things that make it worse
-Sitting
-Defecation
-I also have pain in and around my anus after ejaculation

Things that make it better-
-Sitting cross legged or with one leg under my but.
-Sitting in a recliner with my legs up.
-I work out including squats and deadlifts and neither of them have every bothered me.
-No pain when standing or running

Thanks in advance

Welcome and you may have a PN related problem but the again maybe not. Sorryfor the wishy washy answerbut it is really hard tosay. For advice I wouldsay tostartwitha PN awarePT sslisted off the home page there aresome in Florida. They can help releaseany tightness or pelvic spasms ( that iswhat startedmy anal pain). Also they can check the nerve. Also the home page lists symptoms and has guidance in the FAQsfor sorting out the issues and getting diagnosed. The forum moderatoters may be better able to answer you and provide other advice. Good luck and keepus posted and ask any questions along the way and we will do our best to guide you.

2007-08 pelvic muscles spasms treated by EGS. 6/27/10 sat too long on hard chair- spasms, EGS not work Botox help, cortisone shots in coccyx help, still pain, PT found PNE & sent me to Dr Marvel nerve blocks & MRN, TG left surgery 5/9/11. I have chronic bunion pain surgery at age 21. TG gave me back enough sitting to keep my job & join in some social activities. I wish the best to everyone! 2019 luck with orthotics from pedorthist & great PT allowing me to get off oxycodone.

Florida, the inferior rectal nerve is one branch of the pudendal nerve. It's possible to have just one branch be affected. A good pelvic floor physical therapist who is trained in treating pudendal neuralgia should be able to give you an idea of whether your posterior pelvic floor muscles such as the levator ani are tense or in spasm and whether there might be any possible pudendal nerve involvement.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
