Sclerotization of Clitoral Vein & Dorsal Clitoral Nerve Bloc

Post by Gwen »

I am wondering if anyone else has the same type of Pudendal Entrapment that I do.......I am going to have a Dorsal Clitoral Nerve Block & Sclerotization of the Clitoral vein Feb 19th with Dr. Hibner. I have had severe pain in my clitoris & vagina ever since I walked away from a high speed rear end collision. I thought I was fine - no broken bones, no blood, no bruises. However, very shortly after I started having pain 'down there' when I sat down. I have no pain when I arise in the morning - it just comes on after a few hours and when it does no position except sitting on a toilet seat naked will give me relief. I try to keep pain under control with narcotic pain med's but they are not as effective as they use to be.

If this procedure does not work my plan B is to have a Medtronic Stimulator implanted by Dr. Peters.

Please reply if you have any of the same disorders - I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thank You

Gwen

Gwen, I haven't heard much about successes from this type of procedure but Dr. Hibner is very knowledgeable about PN so he must have some reasons for recommending this procedure for you. There are some questions I would ask Dr. Hibner before going through with it though.

1. How many of these procedures has he done and how effective were they?
2. How will this procedure (to the clitoral branch) help the vaginal pain?
3. If this was due to a trauma/car accident can you be evaluated by his PT for any musculoskeletal misalignments or pelvic instability due to the trauma?

I hope this goes well for you and is solution for your pain. ;) Take care,

Violet
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Thank You Violet for bringing to my mind some very good questions for Dr. Hibner. I did ask him how many of these clitoral procedures he has performed & his answer was 3 and they were all successful. I also talked at length with his PT Loretta who gave me a thorough exam and also re-assured me that this vein if blocked or kinked can cause intense pain in the clitoris & vagina. So I at that time I felt that word I don't feel very often HOPE. Your 2nd question I did not ask Dr. Hibner during my exam but will ask when I see him.

I find it hard to believe though that this could be the cause of all of the severe pain.......Nothing else showed up on the MRI? Have you heard of anyone else with this type of 'thing'?

I appreciate you!

Gwen, that is good to hear that there have been some successes from this procedure. I think we've heard from a guy who had vein embolization which sounds similar but I think his problem was related more to ED and loss of sensation than pain. Hopefully you will be able to report back on a successful procedure!

From what I've heard, Loretta is very good so my guess is she would have evaluated you for musculoskeletal concerns. Maybe the thinking is that the clitoral pain is causing the vaginal muscles to tighten and the tension is causing further pelvic pain.

Wishing you all the best on the 19th!

Best of luck Gwen. I must say that everything I have read and heard about Dr Hibner and Loretta inspires confidence. Let us know how you are.
Take care

Hi Gwen,

I was wondering how your surgery (dorsal clitoral block) went with Dr. Hibner? I've had pain in my clitoral area for years and finally saw Dr. Irwin Goldstein in San Diego who performed a dorsal slit surgery but it didn't work. We are still troubleshooting! He has mentioned Dr. Hibner a couple of times. My pain is only upon touch (do intercourse, foreplay, even cleansing and simply blotting with toilet paper after going to the restroom). It feels like I'm bruised badly and is unbearable to even lightly touch. It's mostly on the glans/or tip of my clitoris. Are your symptoms at all similar?

I hope your procedure helped!

Thank you for any feedback.

Allison
