New Symptom! Skin hurts....

Post by LindseyD »

Hey,Ive posted on here before,I am not diagnosed with anything just suspecting what I think I have. Anyway, as Ive said before, it started with the bladder... urgency/some frequency, occational pain. A month after that my labias started to feel like pins and needles,or a deep aching. 2 months after that my thighs began to hurt and my arch/heel in my foot.

NEW symptom as of yesterday: My skin on my inner thigh above mg right knee-- is sore to the touch. Even when im walking and mh sweat pants touch it. Last night mh husband couldnt rub my legs without it hurting me.
Is this a PN symptom? All this has happened to be in 4 1/2 months. Which is VERY quick!! When symptoms pop up so quick in a short time, does that mean whatever nerve is being more and more compressed or damaged?? Is the skin thing something I talk to the nurologist about?? I fear the future because my symotoms are always adding...

Lindsey, many PN patients have what's called allodynia which is a painful response to something that isn't normally painful such as the skin being touched. I developed that over time and also had burning pain on the inner thighs due to the obturator internus muscle being tense and in spasm from the PN pain. Not sure if that's what you are experiencing but it sounds similar. Have you seen a pelvic floor PT yet for evaluation of the pelvic floor muscles?

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Lindsey, different things work for different people. You can try natural remedies like heat and ice or alternate them. Or you can try topical ointments/creams such as lidocaine, emla, or gabapentin/ketamine compounded cream. Another option would be to take oral pain medications. This page discusses some of the options. http://www.pudendalhope.info/node/20

If your obturator internus muscle is in spasm a TENS unit might help. Your PT should be able to tell you how to use it and may even have one you can try in the office.

Take care,

Violet
