Cryoablation by a Kaiser Doctor in San Jose

I just learned that Interventional Radiologist Dr. Eric King offers pudendal nerve cryoablation. From what I've read, it lasts fron 6 weeks to 6 months and can be repeated.

The idea for any kind of pudendal neuralgia, including radiofrequency ablation, aks RF ablation, PRF and CRF, is to disrupt the ability of the nerve to transmit pain signals, while nor affecting the motor function.

For pudendal neuralgia patients, motor damage means urinary and/or fecal incontinence. Not good.

My pain was so localized to the left scrotal area,that I asked Dellon if he could cut the perineal branch of my left pudendal nerve, right before it splits in two. He said he could, but it didn't help me.

I recently saw Dellon published a paper saying he'd cured several women of PN that way.

Wondering if you had any update. Did you try anything with Kaiser?.. I am close to the bay area and trying to find someone at Kaiser who knows their pudendal stuff. I have had a nerve block but feel like it is missing the mark.

If the blocks aren’t working, I’d lean toward pelvic floor bodywork or somatic therapy instead. Way more natural, and it actually helps some people long-term without messing with the nerves.

I am very interested in cryoablation of the pudendal nerve and am pursuing this treatment. Here is the research I have found so far. Dr. Attaman in Seattle and Dr. Prologo in Atlanta seem very promising and have the most information online, but Dr. King in San Jose is also mentioned. These doctors are interventional radiologists with experience treating pudendal nerve entrapment.

Note -- I have had all the PT, meditation, ketamine and nerve blocks I can stand as well as PN surgeries with Dr. Hibner and Dr. Dellon. The treatment that helped me was from Dr. Joshua Prager in LA -- a pain pump with the right medications to "turn down" the pain loop between my brain and nervous system. That has given me a life since 2013. Cryoablation of the nerve -- which kills the pain, for however long -- is so compelling! For some patients, it has meant NO more pain for years. I would like to experience that before my life is over. And the clock is a-ticking.

Sorry for the delayed response. I got my life back

After about a year, I've started getting paid flares again and have another cryo scheduled on January 13th in Honolulu.

I never did get full relief from my daily level 2-4 pain, but after over 15 years of hell and 9 failed surgeries (not decompression) a year without pain flares has been life changing.

I'm bummed it didn't last longer, but at least it's safe enough that it can be repeated. NO recovery period. You just can't lift anything heavy for a short while.

Cryo damages the nerve fibers that transmit pain signals to the brain without damaging the motor nerve fibers.

I'm hoping he will do both the Alcocks Canal and the Ischial Spine in the same procedure this time.

Alcocks Canal is standard but since I'd had 2 successful nerve blocks at the Ischial Spine, I asked him to repeat it there. I didn't get yhe typical immediate relief after either location. It took about 6 weeks to really notice the difference. So I can't be sure which location helped. Maybe both did.

If you try it, which I HIGHLY recommend, insistsist on two 17 minute freeze cycles with a warming period in-between. That's Dr. Prologo's protocol.

Most doctors do two 3 minutes cycles.

Interestingly, I had gall bladder removal surgery 11 months ago and have had severe nausea and fatigue ever since.

A new doctor finally figured out it's being caused by my Suboxone. Turns out any opiate affects your GI system in ways that can cause my exact same symptoms!
