Neurosonology already used in PN diagnosis ?

is anything known regarding examinations using neurosonology in relation to the PN issue?
Becaus I'm reading in the net about: "A high-resolution, non-invasive imaging technique for the direct visualization of peripheral nerves, which is increasingly used for the diagnosis of nerve compression syndromes."

I've heard of ultrasound being used for image guidance to give pudendal nerve blocks, but I haven't heard of it being used directly to see pudendal nerve compression. It would be great if the technology has gotten to that point! Where on the net did you read about it?

I would be really interested in what you find out. I suspect they essentially infer compression by identifying compression of the pudendal artery.

That second article you posted, which is a pretty recent article (December 2025) says in the key summary points that "ultrasound and electrophysiological tests show limited diagnostic accuracy." They looked at a lot of articles in their literature review.

Color dopplar ultrasound has been used to assess the pudendal blood vessels that run alongside the pudendal nerve.

That second article you posted, which is a pretty recent article (December 2025) says in the key summary points that "ultrasound and electrophysiological tests show limited diagnostic accuracy." They looked at a lot of articles in their literature review.

Color dopplar ultrasound has been used to assess the pudendal blood vessels that run alongside the pudendal nerve.

They seem to use the colour dopplar ultrasound as routine in the UK, as they have used it when doing all of my blocks.
Very interesting that the dial doesn't seem to have moved in terms of diagnostic testing. They really need to label it as a diagnosis of exclusion.

"The diagnosis of pudendal neuralgia by
pudendal nerve entrapment syndrome is essentially clinical."

But even the criteria they list in their article didn't match exactly for me because they say the symptoms don't keep you awake at night but that was not true for me. I barely slept for several months until I got onto some medication to help me sleep.

I should be going for surgery soon but yeah I did have occassions in which it was difficult. I have had my symptoms develop as time went on.

Surgery on the NHS is a non-starter, so I've seen Dr Bollens and I am hoping to get surgery next month.
